Historical Milestones

The journey of Capiz State University

This timeline highlights the major turning points that shaped Capiz State University from its foundation as PSPC into the institution it is today.
1980

PSPC was established

Through Batas Pambansa Blg. 91 signed on December 24, 1980, Mambusao Agricultural and Technical College and Capiz Agricultural and Fishery School were merged to form the Panay State Polytechnic College.

1999

Capiz Institute of Technology integrated

The Capiz Institute of Technology in Roxas City, including its Dayao fisheries unit, became part of the PSPC system, strengthening the institution’s reach and academic base.

2000

Sigma College joined PSPC

Sigma College of Science and Technology was integrated into PSPC, further expanding the college system and supporting its path toward universityhood.

2004

Capiz State University was created

Republic Act No. 9273, signed on March 21, 2004, officially converted the Panay State Polytechnic College into Capiz State University.

2008–2024

Leadership and institutional growth

The University continued to strengthen its campuses, academic services, research, and governance under successive administrations, culminating in the present advocacy: Rise CAPSU, Rise Capiz!
